Fast & Furious Cars, Mistery Machine From Scooby-Doo, Up For Sale Posted: 10 Jun 2011 10:30 PM PDT It seems that the original Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo, created by Hanna-Barbera Productions is up for sale on eBay. Volo Auto Museum listed this modified Dodge A-100 van from the 1963 and they expect to get at least $25,000. However, taking into consideration that it is a no reserve auction, you might grab it for even less. If the Mystery Machine is not your cup of tea, why not buy a car from the popular and very successful Fast & Furious franchise? Up for sale are a Chevrolet Chevelle, a Buick Regal and a Chevrolet Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift. In addition, you could get your hands on Robocop's police car that comes bundled with a silicon robo-suit that was used by the stunt driver. Other cars that you could get are the VW Beetle from Herbie: Fully Loaded (driven by Lindsay Lohan) and other vehicles from Indiana Jones 4 and The Dark Knight. Spy Shots – 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Posted: 10 Jun 2011 10:00 PM PDT Our colleagues from WCF have managed to grab a few spy shots with the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 while undergoing some testing at the Nurburgring track. The prototype you see in these shots has a huge intercooler which can only mean that the production version will be considerably a lot more powerful. Although we don't have any official information coming from the Blue Oval, if we believe the latest rumors going on the Internet, the car will be powered by a new V8 5.8-liter supercharged engine that might produce 620 hp (629 PS / 462 kW), which will be 70 hp (71 PS / 52 kW) more than the model it will replace. The car looks just about the same as the current model, but when the production version will hit the dealership; it might be a little bit different. Stay tuned for more information. Posted: 10 Jun 2011 09:30 PM PDT This week, Skoda revealed its plans to bring a specially-modified Octavia vRS to the Bonneville Salt Flats. The one-off car was developed in collaboration with REVO Technik and is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI gasoline engine that benefits from a Garret turbocharger. By using high-octane race fuel, the engine will be able to develop 549-592 hp (550-600 PS / 405-441 kW) and a peak torque of 332 lb.-ft (450 Nm). The company says that the Octavia vRS will be able to hit a top speed of over 200 mph (322 km/h). In order to accomplish this, Skoda's engineers have installed a limited slip differential and a K&W coilover suspension that reduces the car's ride height by 80mm. In addition, the car will ride on 15-inch steel rims that have aerodynamic covers, wrapped around Goodyear Eagle Land Speed rubbers. It will also feature fire extinguishers, a parachute and a roll cage in order to meet the safety regulations imposed by the SCTA – Southern California Timing Association. 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Does A Fast Lap At Nurburgring Posted: 10 Jun 2011 09:00 PM PDT Chevrolet has brought its 2012 Corvette ZR1 model to the Nurburgring track in order to demonstrate the improvements brought over the old model. The car you see in this video is powered by a V8 6.2-liter supercharged engine that produces 638 hp (647 PS / 476 kW) and has a peak torque of 604 lb.-ft (818 Nm). Click here to view the embedded video. It managed to do a lap of the epic Nordschleife in 7:19.63, which is 6 seconds faster than their previous record which was set three years ago. In order to shave off those seconds, the top-spec ZR1 model has been fitted with the PDE performance package that sports a full-width rear spoiler that improves aerodynamics, along with a brand new set of Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure rubbers from Michelin. Posted: 10 Jun 2011 09:03 AM PDT For those days when you don't feel like watching TV, but you don't want to miss Formula 1 either, F1.com has found a wonderful solution that keeps you updated with the latest events from the track racing: it's formula1.com 2011, a free application for you smartphone. It starts on the day a race is scheduled, and sends notifications about the laps. By only using a 3G, rolling text commentaries, as well as live timing from the F1 Management's Technical Centre appear on the screen. In addition to this, the application can beam weather and track temperature back to the phone whenever they change. It also functions as a backup source of information of the season's races once the race is finished. The application is simple to use, which allows you to easily navigate through its options. What it lacks is a video feed or highlight reels from races, but those can be watched on Formula1.com website. So, what do you thing about the application? Is it useful for a Formula 1 enthusiast? [Study] Nearly 1 in 5 American Drivers would fail driver’s test Posted: 10 Jun 2011 08:23 AM PDT Unfortunately, roads are full with unskilled drivers. This means that our security while driving is consistently decreased. According to GMAC Insurance, one-in-five drivers on the road today cannot meet the basic requirements to get a driver’s license. The results were revealed by a study, which has shown that current drivers don't know and, implicitly, don't respect some basic rules of driving, such as: what should be done when approaching a yellow light, or what distance should be left between the vehicles in traffic. Three of four drivers have answered incorrectly to those questions. After a quick analyze, those results show that almost 18% of the current drivers would not pass the written test for getting their driving licence. The survey polled 5,130 licensed drivers, ages 16-65, from 50 states and the District of Columbia. The study used 20 questions taken from state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) exams, and was administered online by TNS, the world’s largest custom research agency.
said Scott Eckman, chief marketing officer, GMAC Insurance. This study has also revealed a top of the worst drivers in America: Kansas drivers scored the highest, and those from the District of Columbia are at the bottom of the list, being the worst drivers in America. As about the competition between men and women when talking about their driving skills, 1 in 4 women failed the test (27.2 percent versus 13.6 percent for male). When it comes to age differences, drivers with ages between 60 and 65 scored the highest. So, Northeast is the worst driving region with average scoring at 74.9 percent, while Midwest is the best driving region with average scoring at 77.5 percent. What do you think about those results: are current drivers really so ignorant about the driving rules? Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Celebrities and their luxurious cars Posted: 10 Jun 2011 07:01 AM PDT Celebrity goes well only with an expensive car nearby; otherwise we are not dealing with a genuine star. And when we are talking about Hollywood's most famous celebrities, public demands are high. This is why the American stars continuously impress us with their extravagance and their luxury life, including cars. The reason for all this? Maybe they think that an expensive car makes them look hot. Here are some examples: Angelina Jolie and her BMW Hydrogen Paris Hilton and her pink Bentley GT Continental Kim Kardashian and her Ferrari F430 Britney Spears and her Maserati Gran Turismo Pink and her Chevy '57 Convertible Audrina Patridge and her Mercedes G-Class Demi Moore and her Toyota Prius Which one is your favorite, celebrity or car?
