Posted: 01 Jun 2011 04:08 AM PDT Last Sunday's F1 GP was probably one of the most memorable races of the last decade. It had everything that you can imagine; from crashes, drive-through penalties, to safety cars and overtaking maneuvers, something very rare in this old street circuit where there is little to no room of getting in front of someone. It was the sixth race of the season and the fifth victory for the current world champion, Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, who managed to increase his lead in the championship to a very relaxing 58 points. 20 laps before the end of the race Vettel was having a hard time keeping Alonso in the back, while Jenson Button was rapidly approaching the leading drivers. We were all expecting for a heavy battle between these three drivers, but the plans got mixed up when Adrian Sutil in his Force India car hit a barrier. Alguersuari crashed into Hamilton and Petrov, trying to avoid all the dangerous in front of him and put his car into the wall. While there were only a few laps remaining, the safety car once again came out, exactly what Vettel needed as his rubbers were in a critical condition. Thanks to the safety car stop, the German had the opportunity to restart the race on brand new tires and he managed to complete the remaining 10 minutes of the race on the first position, achieving his 14th overall win in F1. Here are the complete results of the 2011 Monaco GP: 1. Vettel Red Bull 2h09:38.373 Here are the drivers standings after six races so far in the 2011 F1 season:
And here’s how things look so far in the constructors’ standings:

[Study] Women are Seven Times less Stressed than Men in Traffic Jams Posted: 31 May 2011 07:00 AM PDT A new study made by the satellite navigation company TomTom has revealed that women's stress level is seven times lower than men's when they are stuck in traffic. The research tested stress level on volunteers, by analyzing chemicals in their saliva while being caught up in a traffic jam. Therefore, the British psychologists have discovered that women's stress level increased by 8.7%, while men's – 60% in the same traffic situation. Consequently, many heart and breathing diseases can appear on men. Surprisingly, many of the volunteers participating to the experiment did not feel like being stressed, even if the chemical results have showed otherwise: after 20 minutes in heavy traffic, 67% of the women and 50% of men said they had no idea they were experiencing stress. In addition to those statistic results, the study has revealed that 48% of adults go to work every day by their own car, which means they are daily exposed to traffic jams and implicitly to health problems. All those aspects make driving more risky and potentially dangerous. The psychological explanation of this difference between men and women is due to men's normal attitude and reaction in case of a difficult situation: they either confront it or walk away from it. In this case, they cannot do either of those. On the other hand, women find different ways of relaxing the atmosphere and releasing the pressure, for example, by turning on the radio (apparently, 77% of British drivers caught up in traffic listen to music, while 23% sing for themselves, 16% make phone calls, 20% – eat or drink, 3% – put on make-up or shave). So, how do you release your stress while being stuck in heavy traffic? General Electric EV Solar Carport Posted: 31 May 2011 06:47 AM PDT General Electric EV (Electric Vehicle) Solar Carport is an innovative concept for charging EV, launched in Plainville, Connecticut, this month. It is a green solar charging technology, using a carport that incorporates solar panels on its roof with electric vehicle charging stations under its cover. The entire project was possible through the partnership between GE Energy Industrial Solutions and Inovateus Solar, the latter being the one who has installed the solar carport. Apparently, the solar panels are able to produce enough electricity each year to power the equivalent of 20 homes. In this case, the technology will be able to support the electricity needed to power the carports' overhead lighting and six Level 2 GE Charging Stations. Using those two, the technology can juice up about 13 EVs per day.
GE has declared. In addition to all that, the carport is connected to the grid, which enables them both to feed any excess generated power into the grid, as well as to draw power from the grid in case the situation requires such an action. Do you think those carports should be extended to the whole US?
