Posted: 15 Apr 2011 12:39 AM PDT Our wait will soon come to an end as Dirt 3 will be out on all platforms on the 24th of May. To increase the game's popularity, the developers over at Codemasters have revealed a couple of details about a very interesting three-game party mode. This mode consists of mini games and will serve for those players that want to try something a little bit more different. This means that the game will have a very good multiplayer setup, making it probably one of the best in the racing genre. Add to the multiplayer fun probably a very extensive single player mode and DiRT 3 promises to be one of the best racing games ever made. Too bad that it will be the last game of the franchise, but I hope that once they'll see how successful the third part is, they'll change their mind and make at least another one. Nissan Leaf Owners Are Having Problems Restarting The Car Posted: 15 Apr 2011 12:25 AM PDT One of the many advantages that EVs have is the fact that they are very silent when you fire them up. However, some of the Leafs are too quiet when you push the start button as according to Reuters, Nissan has admitted that some owners in the United States and Japan are having issues starting up their vehicles. The automaker's spokesperson, Toshitake Inoshita told Reuters that the reason for this rather embarrassing problem is due to the car's air conditioning system, but they don't really know what exactly causes this issue. Although a start failure is a real problem to any car owner, Nissan is not going to issue a recall because this isn't a safety-related issue. Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Shanghai Preview – Peugeot SXC Crossover Concept Posted: 14 Apr 2011 03:00 PM PDT It was only yesterday when we've mentioned that Peugeot will reveal a new SUV concept at the Shanghai Motor Show that will start next week. Well, this is it. Dubbed "SXC", it was developed by the company's design studio in Shanghai China Tech Center and is aimed to suit the preferences of the local customers, combining the style of an SUV with the elegance of a sedan, while at the same time maintaining the traditional Peugeot line of design. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter THP engine that develops 218 hp (160 kW), combined with two electric motors (front+rear). This means that the total output is 313 hp (230 kW), while the fuel consumption is of only 5.3 liters / 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 143 g/km. The concept measures 4.87 meters long, 2.04 meters wide and 1.61 meters high. Those counter-opening doors look very cool if you ask me and I hope that they will make it into the production version. Instead of rear-view mirrors, the SXC has cameras, along with other interesting additions, like the cat-eye-like headlamps and boomerang-shaped tail lights. SAAB’s Financial Problems Might End In The Near Future Posted: 14 Apr 2011 02:30 PM PDT You probably heard it already, but SAAB is having serious financial problems at the moment. They had to stop production twice because its suppliers refused to ship the necessary parts. The reason for this is simple: the Swedish automaker wasn't able to pay them. After these problems surfaced, rumors about a possible shutdown of the company emerged. According to Bloomberg, the government wants to get a bank loan in order to float the company for the short-term. Most likely, this loan will come from Bankas Snoras in Lithuania, who is managed by a very wealthy investor from Russia – Vladimir Antonov, who expressed his desire to buy the company since General Motors put it up for sale. With this move, the government in Sweden hopes to save a few thousand jobs. Sweden backed the company's $577 million loan from the European Investment Bank, which means that if the company will close its doors, the taxpayers will have to pay a pretty significant bill. Bloomberg mentions that lawyers are currently working on a deal that would be able to float the company $48 million while Sweden's government approves the involvement of Antonov. If all things go as planned, he will get 30% stake in SAAB, in exchange for an investment of $72 million. Source: Bloomberg via AutoBlog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 14 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT Click here to view the embedded video. I always thought that parades were kind of lame, except maybe for military ones. However, the Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom Parade had plenty to offer as you can see from this video. This brand new 2011MY Dodge Durango Citadel was sitting right in the middle of the parade route when all of the sudden it started to burst into flames (literally) from its hood. An NBC affiliate said that the car started to spew black smoke while towing on the parade route. Due to this incident, the parade was prolonged by approximately 15 minutes, but just like in Titanic, the band kept playing all the way throughout the tragedy – that's what I call professionalism. Teenager Destroys $400k Gumpert Apollo Posted: 14 Apr 2011 01:30 PM PDT I really hate when rare cars like the Gumpert Apollo get totaled. A 20-year-old German managed to wreck this $400k automotive masterpiece along a highway near Brokdorf, Germany while taking a slow corner at a very high speed, causing the supercar to skid into a pasture. As you can see from this photo, the 700-hp Apollo lost most of its carbon fiber, leaving only the passenger compartment intact. As you might have guessed that already, the driver was not the owner of the car. The good news is that both of the people inside survived with minor injuries, but we can't say that about the car though… Source: Jalopnik | Photo: DPA Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 14 Apr 2011 01:00 PM PDT The guys over at PPI Razor have a thing for the Audi R8 and we can't blame them. Last year, they've launched the GTR-10, a performance package for the V10 version, increasing the output of the engine to 600 hp. However, they thought that they could do better, and here is the result: 800 hp from the V8 version. To boost up the power they had to adapt the power unit to get a better compression ratio, along with a strong resistance of the first and second gear. In addition, they've added two R48 Bi-Centrifugal Superchargers and they've remapped the ECU. Other modifications include installing a special sport air filter in a carbon fiber air box for optimizing the air flow. With that kind of power coming from the engine, the performances of this Audi R8 are incredible. It needs only 2.9 seconds to do the 0-60 mph sprint, on its way to a top speed of 217 mph. Add to this the wonderful soundtrack coming from the PPI Dual Inlet Sport Exhaust that was specially made to work along with the R8's supercharging system, and you have one of the coolest cars out there. No word about the price, but don't expect it to be a bargain. Source: NewCarSeries Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 14 Apr 2011 12:30 PM PDT There are big changes that the car you see in this photo is the new 2012 Jaguar XF. Taking into consideration that we've already seen those awesome headlights in previous spy shots, we think that this is indeed the facelift version of the XF. As a reminder, the car will be powered by a 4-cylinder 2.2-liter diesel that churns out 187 hp and 332 lb.-ft of torque, mated to an all-new 8-speed automatic gearbox, developed by ZF. The U.S.-spec 2012 Jaguar XF will get a more powerful V8 5.0-liter engine that will be mated to the same fancy ZF gearbox, including the supercharged "R" model. More information should be revealed in the following weeks. Stay tuned. Source: Joke For Blog via Nitrobahn via AutoBlog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
