Wheelsandmore 2011 Mercedes CLS63 AMG Posted: 13 Apr 2011 11:00 AM PDT The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is relatively new, but already there are a couple of tuning packages available for it. The first one was developed by Carlsson and delivers 600 hp, while the second one was created by Brabus and packs a whopping 730 hp. Wheelsandmore also came up with their own tuning program but they only managed to squeeze only 62 hp more from the engine, reaching a total of 580 hp and 575 lb.-ft of torque. This extra oomph was obtained by remapping the ECU and installing new exhaust system. Aside from the engine modifications, they also offer a brand new set of black-finished 20-inch forged rims, as well as a KW suspension. No word about the price tag yet. Volvo Updates V70, XC70 And S80 Models Posted: 13 Apr 2011 10:30 AM PDT The Swedish car manufacturer has announced at the beginning of this week that the trio V70, XC70 and S80 will benefit from significant updates, starting with more refined engines and an upgraded infotainment system. These three models are going to be the first Volvos that will be fitted with the higher performance versions of the 5-cylinder D3 and D5 turbodiesels. The D5 2.4-liter engine produces 215 hp and 324 lb.-ft (440 Nm) of torque, which is 10 hp and 20 Nm more than the previous generation, while at the same time being 8% more fuel efficient. Being a Volvo, don't expect much as far as the exterior looks are concerned. Updates include reshaped headlamps with optional active xenon lights, along with LED turn indicators in the door mirrors (for the S80 and V70 models), new colors and a couple of new wheel designs. Volvo's Sensus infotainment system has been upgraded and now has a 5- or a 7-inch color screen, located in the upper part of the center console. The driver has the possibility to access a bundle of settings from it, like the Active Cruise Control, Pedestrian Detection, Collision Warning, audio system, climate unit and so on. The bigger 7-inch unit also displays info and images of the sat-nav system, phone, panorama and reversing cameras, along with digital TV and DVD player. Introduced in the S60, V60 and the XC60 models, the Pedestrian Detection system with Full Auto Brake is now available on the S80, V70 and the XC70. This system uses radar and a camera in order to monitor the pedestrians in front of the car and has the ability to automatically brake the vehicle so that it could avoid a collision. Other new goodies added by Volvo include an Adaptive Cruise Control system and the City Safety system that can help avoid low-speed rear-end collisions. Both these features come as standard on all three models. Source: Volvo via Carscoop Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Anderson Germany 2011 Ford Focus RS Posted: 13 Apr 2011 10:00 AM PDT After launching the "black" editions of the Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8 and the Ferrari 458, Anderson Germany turned its attention to the Ford Focus RS. Dubbed the "Black Racing Edition", it has a black paint finish with red contrasts, along with a new aerodynamic package that includes more pronounced wheel arches, a matte black wrap and an extra thick spoiler. Inside the cabin, you'll find Alcantara, leather upholstery and red stitching. The most important changes can be found under the hood. The standard 2.5-liter 20 V DOHC RS power unit produces 305 hp and with the addition of a turbocharger and a new exhaust system, it can output a whopping 420 hp. It might not be as fast as the supercars we've mentioned, but I wouldn't mind driving one. Source: Anderson Germany via CarFanatics Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Lingenfelter 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS LS9 Drag Race Posted: 13 Apr 2011 09:30 AM PDT Click here to view the embedded video. Back in 2010, the engineers over at Lingenfelter unveiled their Camaro SS LS9 package that offered an incredible 1,234 hp. Their back this year for the 2011 Camaro5Fest with a variation of the same tuning program. The Camaro SS will get a revised Pedders/Lingenfelter drag race shock absorber package, plus a 427 CID LSX power unit. Other goodies include Lingenfelter CNC ported GM LS3 six-bolt cylinder heads, a strain gauged shifter, a face-plated TR6060 Trans by RPM Transmissions, along with an LPE 2-step shift torque cut. As you can see from this video, these upgrades have already been tested on the Dyno and were able to do a WOT 3-4 shift with both stages of nitrous, tuning both the initiation and duration of the torque cut. The test was accomplished in vehicle simulation mode, while producing more than 1,200 rwhp @ 7,200 rpm. Source: TopSpeed Post published on Rpmgo.com |

Design Study – Skoda Vision WRC Concept Posted: 13 Apr 2011 08:30 AM PDT Inspired by the design language of the Vision D Concept, this is a study of a rally car created by Pavel Hruby for the Czech magazine AutoDesign&Styling. The vehicle show what a new rally car from Skoda would look like, and is based on the latest design idiom which we saw last month during the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show. Aznom Is Preparing A Mid-engined Abarth 500 Posted: 13 Apr 2011 08:00 AM PDT There are plenty of tuning programs out there for the Fiat 500, including performance upgrades for the Abarth version. Another one is in the works and promises to be the most radical. Dubbed the "Motore Centrale R230", it no longer has the engine in the front of the passenger compartment, but behind it, which means that it will be a mid-engined, rear-drive car, pretty close to the original 500 model, offering improved performance dynamics. Needless to say that this conversion is not a piece of cake, but if Aznom and partner Lucarelli-Monza can keep the price tag on a decent level, we should expect them to offer about 30 units per year. We will be able to tell you more about the car once it will be unveiled at the upcoming Top Marques Monaco show, which will be held between April 14 and 17th, along with the Spada Codatronca. NHTSA Gives A 5-star Crash Rating To The 2011 Scion tC Posted: 13 Apr 2011 07:30 AM PDT The updated version of the 2011MY Scion tC coupe has managed to grab a 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This shouldn't come as a surprise when we take into consideration that the car packs eight airbags: driver & passenger, seat-mounted, along with driver & passenger knee and side-curtain airbags. Add to this bountiful of airbags the ABS, stability control, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, along with the Smart Stop technology that helps prevent the car's airbags from ever having to deploy. Of course, these 5 stars can't make it look good… The A1-inspired cabin looks pretty boring in my opinion; the good thing is that it looks to be made out of high quality materials. It has a generous boot that can hold up to 16.24 to 48.2 cu ft (460 to 1,365 liters) of luggage. Upon launch, there are going to be three choices of power units. The 2.0-liter TFSI, which will be offered in either a 168 hp (170 PS / 125 kW) or a 208 hp (211 PS / 155 kW) output configuration, along with a 2.0-liter TDI that cranks out 174 hp (177 PS / 130 kW). Eventually, Audi will launch an entry-level model that will have a 2.0-liter TDI engine that produces 138 hp (140 PS / 103 kW), along with a front-wheel drive. The German car manufacturer said that the new Q3 can do 45.2 mpg (5.2 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle. As far as the optional features available, customers will be able to choose from leather upholstery, ambient lighting, aluminum trim, heated seats, MMI navigation with a 7-inch display, panoramic glass roof and a 14-speaker Bose audio system. Unwrapped Click here to view the embedded video. The Audi Q3 will hit the dealerships this June for a base price of 29,900 Euros in Germany. Source: Audi via WCF Post published on Rpmgo.com |
