Novitec & Maserati GranCabrio Combine Beauty With Performance Posted: 12 Apr 2011 05:00 AM PDT One of the most beautiful cars ever launched by the Italian automaker Maserati is without any doubt the GranCabrio. The standard drop-top variant of the GT packs a V8 4.7-liter engine that produces 440 hp @ 7,000 rpm and 362 lb.-ft (490 Nm) of torque @ 4,750 rpm. The engineers over at Novitec felt that there is still room for improvement and they've installed a brand new supercharger, a water-cooled intercooler, along with a remapped ECU. The result? 590 hp @ 7,300 rpm and 421 lb.-ft (572 Nm), enough for a 0-60 mph sprint time in only 4.5 seconds. The tuning company also offers a custom-made stainless steel exhaust system and a KW aluminum coilover sport suspension. Add to this the blacked wheels that measure 20-inch at the front and 21-inch out in the back, along with the a new aerodynamics package that consists of a front spoiler, rear apron, boot lid spoiler and side skirts, all of them being made out of carbon fiber. Posted: 12 Apr 2011 04:00 AM PDT Carscoop's spy photographers have grabbed a batch of shots with the upcoming Audi RS4 Avant and I have to say that the car looks breathtaking. Even though this one is nothing but a test mule based on the S4 Avant model, we can see that there are some elements that differentiate these two cars. For example, the massively blistered front & rear wheel arches that accommodate those 20-inch alloy wheels that we saw on the sexy RS5 coupe. In addition, if features an updated front bumper with newly-designed air vents that provide extra cooling to the power unit. Speaking of the engine, according to various rumors, the Ingolstadt-based automaker will use the same unit as the one found in the aforementioned RS5 Coupe. In other words, the upcoming RS4 Avant will most likely come with a V8 4.2-liter naturally aspirated power plant that develops 450 hp @ 8,250 rpm and 317 lb.-ft (430 Nm) of torque between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. All of this power will be transferred to all four wheels via a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission, along with the company's upgraded Quattro system that can split torque 40:60 (front to rear) under normal driving conditions, and even sending up to 70% to the front wheels or 85% to the back ones, if necessary. Needless to say, the upcoming Audi RS4 Avant will benefit from an upgraded chassis with an improved suspension, braking system and steering, along with a more imposing and aggressive aerodynamics package with model-specific components. Inside, expect to see bucket sports seats, sport trim and bespoke instruments. We don't know if there is going to be a sedan version of the RS4, but our guess is that eventually they will launch one. The Audi RS4 Avant will most likely be unveiled next year at Geneva or at another major international automotive show. Source: Carscoop Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 12 Apr 2011 03:00 AM PDT The guys over at Audi have revealed this week the first two sketches with the upcoming R8 GT Spyder, which is going to be a lightweight version of the original model, distinguished by a matte titanium splitter and LED taillights. In addition, it will pack a very aggressive rear diffuser, bespoke 19-inch alloy rims and a carbon fiber rear wing. The car will be powered by a V10 5.2-liter engine that produces 553 hp (560 PS / 412 kW) and 398 lb.-ft (540 Nm) of torque. With this hardware configuration, the R8 GT Spyder will do the 0-60 mph sprint in a mere 3.8 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 193 mph (311 km/h). According to various reports, Audi is going to make only 333 units. More information will become available during the Frankfurt Motor Show when the R8 GT Spyder will be officially unveiled, before hitting the dealerships early next year. Rumors – Ferrari 599 Successor Will Pack 700 HP Posted: 12 Apr 2011 02:00 AM PDT Click here to view the embedded video. According to our trusty colleges over at autocar.co.uk, the successor of the Ferrari 599, dubbed the F152, will come with an updated version of the automaker's massive V12 6.3-liter engine, the one available in the FF model. Although nothing is certain at this moment, some say that it will develop approximately 700 hp (710 PS / 522 kW). We don't know the launched date of the car, but the Italian supercar maker previously confirmed that it is going to be a 2012 model. Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 12 Apr 2011 01:00 AM PDT There are many among us that are waiting for the Focus ST, while others that want more oomph under the bonnet, have their eyes on the all-mighty RS version. WCF's photographers have managed to grab a couple of spy shots with the most powerful Focus version while undergoing some testing near the legendary Nurburgring track. As you can see, these prototypes are early development mules, featuring RS-branded sports seats, unique alloy rims, a high-performance braking system and a center-mounted dual exhaust system, which doesn't look that good, but my guess is that on the production-ready version it will look better. More information about the RS is not available at the moment, but according to previous reports, the hot-hatch might come with a hybrid powertrian that uses a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and a rear axle-mounted electric motor. If this will turn out to be true, the Ford Focus RS will develop about 300 hp (304 PS / 224 kW). Stay tuned for more information. Source: WCF Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 12 Apr 2011 12:46 AM PDT According to various sources, the British automaker Bentley is preparing to bring back to life the "Turbo R" moniker. Essentially, it is going to be a coupe version of the Mulsanne and it will be a rival for the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe. The engine will probably be an updated version of the V8 6.75-liter that will develop 600 hp (608 PS / 447 kW), which is 95 hp (96 PS / 71 kW) more than in the aforementioned Mulsanne. Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but the model will probably be launched in the next two years or so. We'll keep you posted as soon as more information is revealed. Inside the cockpit with Mercedes: See What They Feel Posted: 11 Apr 2011 11:33 AM PDT There are some things in Formula 1 that we can’t experience first hand, but which we wish we could. The thrill of the insane speed, the multiples Gs, the overalls are just some of them. Although pilots may try to explain the overwhelming sensations that they experience, I don’t think they can’t be put into words. In order to give the auto lovers a glimpse of what it’s like to be inside a cockpit during an F1 race, Mercedes has created a short video (that we wish was longer), thus inviting us to “see what they feel”. Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher – I bet they have a lot of stories to tell. But to get a peek of the action, check out the video below: Click here to view the embedded video. What do you think about Mercedes’s idea? Post published on Rpmgo.com |
General Motors Recalls 2,100 Chevrolet Cruze Sedans Posted: 11 Apr 2011 10:00 AM PDT Because of a single incident that occurred on March 1st this year, when General Motors was notified that one 2011MY Chevrolet Cruze was brought to one of the dealerships due to a steering wheel that had come loose from the steering column, GM has decided to issue a voluntary recall on certain Cruze units. According to the automaker, during the manufacturing process, the car's steering wheel might have been improperly fastened and there is a possibility that it could detach from the steering column. For avoiding any potential problems, the Detroit car manufacturer has decided to recall 2,100 Cruze sedans to inspect the steering wheel. This safety recall should begin later on this April. If you have a Cruze and are concerned about this issue, you can Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or visit www.gmownercenter.com . Source: General Motors via Carscoop Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 11 Apr 2011 09:00 AM PDT One of Audi's first EVs will be based on the A3 model and will feature an all-electric motor under the bonnet that sends power from the rear- and mid-mounted battery packs to the wheels in the front. The power output is rated at 130 hp (100 kW) and 199 lb.-ft of torque. The car's 26.5 kWh lithium-ion batteries will last for about 90 miles, which is rather disappointing. The Audi A3 e-tron will be able to do the 0-60 mph "sprint" in 11 seconds, before reaching a top speed of only 90 mph. The good news is that thanks to a 400-volt rapid charger, filling up the batteries should be done in a mere 4 hours, and up to 9 if you'll use a standard household 110-V outlet. In comparison to the conventional-powered A3, the e-tron version will come with a new gauge cluster, a heated windshield and a low consumption HVAC system. We don't know when will Audi launch the model, but the R8 e-tron should hit the dealerships sometime in 2013. Source: Autoblog.it via Autoblog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
New A Class Mercedes Benz video teaser Posted: 11 Apr 2011 08:05 AM PDT Last week we saw the first pictures of the new, lovely and stylish A Class concept. Mercedes elegantly calls the new A Class “the first heartbeat of a new generation”, which I think not only sounds lovely, but is also completely appropriate. Click here to view the embedded video.
