Ferrari Opens Dealership In India Posted: 06 Jun 2011 10:30 PM PDT Ferrari's latest move comes from India where they've opened up a brand new showroom, following the footsteps of other two supercar makers: Aston Martin and Maserati. Located in New Delhi, the country's capital, this two-story outlet features an official service center that is operated by the Shreyans Group, Ferrari's importer for the Indian market. The Italian automaker said that they'll bring all of their models to China and they already have 50 customers waiting for their cars. Ferrari made a smart move opening up this dealership in India if we take into consideration that the wealthy people there are avid for sports cars. In addition, good timing for this decision as later on this year, in October, India will be the host of an F1 GP so exposure for Ferrari is guaranteed. NHTSA Gives 5 Stars To The Chevrolet Volt Posted: 06 Jun 2011 10:00 PM PDT It was only a couple of weeks ago when the Chevrolet Volt got top ratings for crash safety and now the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave five stars to the car for overall vehicle safety. For those of you that don't know, five stars is the maximum rating available. To be more exact, the Volt earned five stars for side crash and rollover tests and four shiny stars for frontal collisions. NHTSA said the Chevrolet Volt comes as standard with electronic stability control, but it isn't available with forward-collision warning or lane-departure. The agency increased the severity of the tests for the 2011MY cars due to the reason that lot of new models managed to do very well with the previous test regime. These new modifications include the side-impact test that simulate a crash going on at 20 mph in a tree or a pole behind the windshield pillar on the driver's side. No word about NHTSA's tests with the Nissan Leaf. We'll keep you posted. Source: NHTSA via GreenCarReports Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 06 Jun 2011 09:30 PM PDT First of all, the photos you see in this article are not spy shots. These have been released by Mini so consider them official photos, although the car is wearing camouflage. Don't you hate when they do that? Anyway, the new Mini Coupe is 3,728 mm long and its wheelbase measures 2,467 mm, while the front track is 1,459 mm wide and the rear axle is 1,467 mm. Good news for those of you who were waiting for the hot versions of the Coupe as Mini have announced the Cooper S and John Cooper Works versions too. The all-mighty JCW features a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that produces 207 hp (211 PS / 155 kW) and has a peak torque of 207 lb.-ft (280 Nm). This power unit will be enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h). For those of you interested in fuel consumption, you should know that the Coupe returns 33 mpg (7.1 liters / 100 km) while CO2 emissions are 165 g/km. The less powerful Cooper S features a 1.6-liter turbo engine that generates 181 hp (184 PS / 135 kW) and 177 lb.-ft (240 Nm) of torque. The entry-level model comes with a gasoline 1.6-liter unit that cranks out 121 hp (122 PS / 90 kW) while the diesel-powered Cooper SD features a 2.0-liter unit that delivers 141 hp (143 PS / 105 kW) and 225 lb.-ft (305 Nm) of torque. All engines come mated as standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the 6-speed automatic transmission is an optional feature (except for the top-spec JCW version). Ford’s Tiniest Engine in the Works Posted: 06 Jun 2011 07:48 AM PDT For a couple of years, Ford has been working to building the smallest engine ever. It first started with Start concept car in 2010, and continued with B-Max in 2011. Actually, we are now talking about their efforts to increase the fuel efficiency on its cars, by developing small, but more powerful engines. So, Ford engineers have been preoccupied to make this mechanically and physically possible, by increasing thermal efficiency and reducing friction. According to Ford, despite its dimensions, the turbocharged 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine will be able to provide the torque and power of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder.
said Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president of Global Product Development. By using the system that Ford is currently developing for the manufacturing program, the fuel could be saved and the emissions cut, because it shortens the period required to get to the optimum operating temperature.
declared Joe Bakaj, Ford vice president of Global Powertrain Engineering. In addition to this small engine, Ford is working at an eight-speed automatic transmission, which will also increase the fuel economy up to 4%. As a future plan, Ford has in mind to offer the engine worldwide in its small cars, but more information about this will be provided in the Frankfurt auto show, in September 2011. What do you think about Ford's plans for their tiniest engine? [Source: Wired, Photo: Start concept car 1, Start concept car 2, B-Max] Post published on Rpmgo.com |

By all doubt signing a contract with Mercedes has its privileges, but this is just unfair! The swiss had the chance to get behind the wheel of the 2012 SLS AMG Roaster, one of the most expected cars this year. He didn’t miss the opportunity to go full throttle and enjoy this supercar just like any lucky man would. Roger acts natural and has fun using all those 563 HP . That’s why we love him so much. OnStar RemoteLink Application Buick Commercial Posted: 06 Jun 2011 05:55 AM PDT First there were the classic locks. Then the better locks. Then alarms. Then better alarms with driving-wheel blockers. Then all of them together. Everybody though of a way to stop the car thiefes, but nobody though about the biggest danger to a car’s security: its owner. How many times have you locked your car keys into the car. How many phone calls back home and delayes you had to go through before you got them back? Buick came out with a clever feature to its 2011 LaCrosse Luxury Sedan. Besides the all-wheel-drive, V8 engine and 182 HP, this car can link to your smartphone through an application and unlock the car without the keys. Oh, by the way, you might consider the dual seat-mounted DVD screens too. Click here to view the embedded video. Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Posted: 06 Jun 2011 05:18 AM PDT Super cars are like magnets to women, and Audi R8 doesn't make any exception. Not only that it's the fastest Audi on market and appeared in some movie blockbusters for the paste few years (such as Iron Man or Transformers), Audi R8 is also able, somehow, to catch women's attention. And we are not talking about any women, but really sexy women. In the video bellow you can see the magnetism between these two elements during a photo shoot on the Audi R8 and its female fans:
Audi R8 Photoshoot in HD from Tuan Hoang on Vimeo. We cannot even say which of them gets more of our attention and admiration: the car or the girls. I guess Audi R8 can work with no problems as wingman for seducing women. So, which one makes you more interested: Audi R8 or the women? [Source: Topspeed] Post published on Rpmgo.com |
