That means that we’ll leave our fancy rides in our elegant fantasies and , on May 24, we’ll get down and dirty with a bunch of hot rally cars. It feels good to stir up the dust and burn some tires. Until we get to play it ourselves, Ken Block and Tanner Foust take their well prepared Ford Fiestas to the track. The things they’re up to, oh you’ll enjoy them a lot! I guess good old car stunts never go out of style. This look like soooo much fun! We can’t wait to get our hand on it. Enjoy the trailer! Click here to view the embedded video. Report – BMW i3 Will Offer 100-mile Range Posted: 18 May 2011 10:00 AM PDT According to the guys over at Car and Driver, the BMW i3 (formerly known as the Megacity Vehicle) will offer a 100-mile range. The company's first production all-electric vehicle will have a price tag of around $35,000. The car is set to go on sale in Europe sometime in 2013 and later on in North America. It will feature a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 150 hp (112 kW), enough for a top speed of 100 mph. If the 100-mile range won't be enough for you, BMW is also reportedly working on a range-extended version that will come with a conventional internal combustion engine that will act as a generator. Maserati GT Garbin Envisions 2020 Gran Turismo Model Posted: 18 May 2011 09:00 AM PDT Designed by Jaime Cervantes, Andrea Coccia and Chetan Rajput, this Maserati GT Garbin is a design study that envisions a 2020 Gran Turismo model. It was the project thesis for these designers that graduated from the Politecnico di Milano and it was developed during the Master in Transportation and Automobile Design and was sponsored by the Fiat Group. The designers got their inspiration from the 1967-1973 Maserati Ghibli, despite the fact that they didn't want to create a retro design. It was named after a south-westerly Italian summer wind, also known as the "Garbino" or "Libeccio". In the front we notice the traditional Maserati grille, mixed up with a couple of design cues borrowed from the fascinating Citroen GT Concept. It features generous doors that slide forwards and luminescent materials along with backlighting areas that give a special look to the general design of the concept. They used the same recipe for the interior cabin, which is dominated by the areas that connect the Garbin's door panels to the dashboard. Source: CarBodyDesign Post published on Rpmgo.com |

Rumors go about that on the 12th of June Top Gear will make its comeback with the 17th season of the show. And by some we mean the Dutch edition of Top Gear magazine. We were very disappointed when the 16th season ended after just 6 episodes. We can’t wait for more action and some intrigue, because we bet there will be bloo…. mentions of the Tesla episode and many more awe generating moments. Are you as excited as we are? Photo source. Lexus LS 600h L – the Wedding Car for Prince Albert II of Monaco Posted: 18 May 2011 07:11 AM PDT Apparently, 2011 could be named the year of royalty. After the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the next royal wedding on the list is the one between Prince Albert II of Monaco and Miss Charlene Wittstock, on Saturday, July 2, 2011. In April, we have all enjoyed the British classic car show on the ride to Westminster Abbey, from the Rolls-Royce Phantom IV built in 1950 (with Prince Charles, and his wife Camilla), the 1977 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (carrying the bride and her father), to the rare 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante MKII and the pair of custom Bentleys that transported the Queen and Prince Philip and Princes William and Harry. Not mentioning the fact that the whole wedding was the perfect occasion for girls to imagine themselves princesses for a couple of hours. This time, for the wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco, the official wedding car will be Lexus LS 600h L and the Japanese carmaker is undergoing some modifications for the moment. We expect to have at least the same joyful moments with cars at this year's second royal wedding, as at the British royal wedding in April. Until then, you can watch the official photo and video of the Lexus car, released a few days ago. Click here to view the embedded video. Posted: 18 May 2011 05:00 AM PDT We were expecting to see the launch of the 2012 Opel Zafira later on this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but it seems that the German automaker is eager to introduce its new 7-seat people carrier. Frankly, I'm glad they did because ever since I saw the concept, I wanted to see how the production version looks like. The good news is that they haven't messed around with the exterior appearance and it looks just about the same as the concept. The original Zafira was introduced by Opel back in 1999 and it was then followed by a second generation that debuted in 2005. The new model looks way better than the other two and Opel hopes that with this attractive design and a high quality interior they will expand their customer base. The front of the car looks very nice with those twin "boomerang" graphics that start from the headlights and end at the fog lamps. In addition, the company's traditional "blade" sculpts on the Zafira's body sides give the car a very attractive appearance. As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it combines what we saw in the concept and what Opel offers in other models from its lineup. There are new color and trim options available, along with a panorama windscreen that flows into a glass roof which will extend all the way to the back of the MPV. The company's proprietary Flex7 seating system has been updated for this third generation of the Zafira and it features three independent seats located in the middle row, seats that can be easily folded flat and move independently from each other, sliding longitudinally by up to 210 mm. Opel also offers a Lounge Seating system which allows you to fold down and rotate the back of the middle seat located in the second row in order to offer armrests to the passengers in the outer seats, something that we haven't seen before in any MPV. Opel says that its new Zafira Tourer can offer 710 liters load volume when in the 5-seat configuration, which is 65 liters more in comparison to the current model. If you decide to fold down the two rear rows, you'll get 1,860 liters of space, 40 liters more than before. The car rides on an entirely new platform that has a bigger wheelbase, measuring 2,760 mm, which is 57 mm more than the 2nd gen model. In addition the front & rear tracks measure 1,584 mm (+96 mm) and 1,588 (+78 mm), respectively. The 2012 Opel Zafira will hit the European dealerships in the last part of this year and it will be available with three configurations of the company's 2.0-liter CDTI engine: 110 hp, 130 hp and the more powerful 165 hp. Customers that prefer gasoline engine will be able to get the 1.4-liter ECOTEC turbocharged plant, available in two output variants: 120 hp and 140 hp. All of the engines will come as standard with Opel's start & stop technology. Later on, the German automaker will launch a more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly ecoFLEX model, along with Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) variants. More engines will also be available after the initial launch, including here an all-new gasoline power unit. This doesn't mean that the second generation of the Opel Zafira will be discontinued. The company said that they will still produce the model as a more affordable MPV alternative. Click here to view the embedded video. Source: Opel via Carscoop Post published on Rpmgo.com |
