It looks like a frog and is based on an old Ford Sierra, could it get any worse than that? The funny thing is that Ford created this model in order to compete in Europe with Mercedes and BMW in the executive car segment. With looks like that, you can imagine how popular the car was. Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson wrote in The Times that the Ford Scorpio was the ugliest car on the road at that time. Before the production ended in 1997, Ford dealers were offering huge discounts to the top-spec models in their attempt to get rid of all the remaining cars. As a funny fact, the Blue Oval never released the sales figures of the Scorpio, claiming that all expectations have been met, yeah right. The specialty German marquee Melkus brought to this year's Top Marques show in Monaco the RS2000 GT and GTS models, which are two variants of a lightweight sports coupe, and both of them are fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that was supplied by a "well-known German manufacturer", according to the company. The entry-level GT model delivers 296 hp (300 PS / 221 kW), enough for a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds. The more powerful version, the GTS, cranks out 345 hp (350 PS / 257 kW) and has a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h), while 0-60 mph is done in only 3.9 seconds. Both models feature adjustable dampers for the suspension along with AP performance brakes. Thanks to using a lot of carbon fiber components, they've managed to get a curb weight of only 2205 lb (1000 kg). This lightweight material was used for the front spoiler, rear diffuser, rear wing and the side air guides. | Porsche 918 Spyder Details Emerge Posted: 17 Apr 2011 03:00 AM PDT  Porsche 918 Spyder Concept The Porsche 918 Spyder is probably the most interesting "green" car of the moment, way more desirable than the Volt, Leaf and the rest of the lot. And it should be, taking into consideration its hefty price tag – $845,000. Our colleges over at WCF have managed to obtain new information about the plug-in hybrid supercar, and they've learned that it will be available in four exterior colors: Basalt Black, Platinum Silver Metallic, Black and Carrera White, with a black interior cabin.  Porsche 918 Spyder Concept The 918 Spyder will be powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that cranks out 493 hp (500 PS / 368 kW), along with two electric motors that produce at least 215 hp (218 PS / 160 kW). The power unit is going to be mated to a 7-speed PDK gearbox that will enable the hybrid supercar to do the 0-60 mph sprint in a mere 3.1 seconds, on its way to a top speed of over 199 mph (320 km/h), and capable of doing a full lap at Nurburgring in less than 7 minutes and 30 seconds.  Porsche 918 Spyder Concept It will feature four operating modes (E-Power, Hybrid, Sport Hybrid and Race Hybrid) that can be selected by using a switch located on the steering wheel. When using the first one, fuel efficiency will be maximized by calling on the electric motors to provide power. With the batteries full, the 918 Spyder will be able to travel more than 16 miles (25 km) only on electricity mode.  Porsche 918 Spyder Concept Hybrid mode is recommended for most of the driving situations and uses both the gasoline engine and the electric motors. Sport Hybrid was developed for adventurous driving and it can configure the engine to maximize performance by enabling a rear torque bias. Race Hybrid is an enhanced Sport Hybrid mode and it was designed for track use, providing "uncompromised control of the entire drive system at the absolute limits of performance."  Porsche 918 Spyder Concept As far as the handling goes, the Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid will use a double wishbone suspension with the company's Active Suspension Management (PASM) as well as Porsche's Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). The latter works through an electronically-controlled locking differential in order to optimize the output of the torque at the rear wheels during cornering. In what was one of the best races in F1 in the last couple of years, Lewis Hamilton managed to win the Shanghai GP, after passing Vettel in the last five laps of the race. The most significant performance was achieved by Webber, who after being on the 18th on the starting grid, managed to grab the third place, behind his team mate Vettel. Behind Webber was Button who lost the 3rd place in the penultimate lap, followed by Nico Rosberg in 5th place and Ferrari's Massa and Alonso is 6th and 7th place. Rosberg was the first to visit the pits while he was in fourth place, followed shortly by Button and Vettel in the same lap. The most embarrassing moment of the race was when Button stopped at Red Bull's pit area, losing precious seconds. After all the pitstops were over, Vettel was first, in front of Massa, Rosberg, Hamilton and Button – all within 8 seconds of the lead. Rosberg was warned by his team that fuel level was critical, and Hamilton managed to get in front of him under braking in to turn 6. The latter only needed a few turns to overpass Massa and begin chasing Vettel. Vettel had problems with worn tires and Hamilton slowly but surely reduced the gap, managing to overtake the current world champion in the turn 7 of the circuit. At that time Webber was 2 seconds faster than anyone on the track and he successfully passed Button in the penultimate corner, managing to finish only 7.5 seconds behind Hamilton. The car you see in this video is a Range Rover Spirito DiVino, an SUV that comes with an embedded wine bar. It was presented last weekend at the Verona Vinitaly 2011 and is based on the Vogue SE model. Not like it matters, but the engine is a V8 4.4 TD that produces 309 hp (313 PS / 230 kW). What matters are the two refrigerator cabinets that have been installed in the rear cargo compartment and can store up to 12 bottles of wine. To keep the wine cool, the refrigerator unit can be recharged through a dedicated solar panel or by a regular power cord plugged into an external outlet. Also available is a set of glasses and that exterior paintwork that stays with the wine theme thanks to the appropriate wine-colored body. The Range Rover Spirito DiVino has been developed by Land Rover Italia, Aznom in partnership with the publication Spirito DiVino. PS: I remember seeing something familiar on an old episode of Top Gear. That car was also a Range Rover. Anyway, the idea behind this SUV is ridiculous. | ISIS AM01 – Ugliest Sports Car Ever? Posted: 16 Apr 2011 05:30 PM PDT  ISIS AM01 Most of the sports cars we talk about here on rpmGO are beautiful, but today we are going to make an exception. This ISIS AM01 has to be the ugliest car I've seen lately. However, all is not that bad with this car as it's powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine borrowed from a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. This 4-cylinder power plant produces 275 hp and has a peak torque of 258 lb.-ft (350 Nm). This power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the 5-speed manual gearbox.  ISIS AM01 It is the creation of a Dutch company called Isis Cars that is managed by Anton van Nunen and Max Alting Siberg. The car is actually based on another coachbuilt from Holland, the Saker. It has a curb weight of only 1,874 pounds (850 kg), and can do the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).  ISIS AM01 The looks are awful; the engine is not that powerful, the gearbox is ordinary, so you would expect that the price tag is reasonable, right? Well, it isn't. Priced at $174,000, you'd have to be pretty insane to spend that kind of money for this AM01 sports car, when there are plenty of more attractive, faster and affordable alternatives to choose from. But wait, there's more. Isis Cars is working on the AM02 model, which will have a 3.0-liter engine that will deliver 400 hp. Price? $203,000. To get as much piece of the action as possible, British car manufacturer Aston Martin has opened its first dealership in India, in the city of Mumbai. As most of you know, in India there is a significant increase in the demand of luxury cars. Last year, the car market posted sales of 1.87 million units, which is 25% more than in 2009. More important for Aston Martin, the luxury car segment went up by an impressive 70% in 2010. Customers will be able to test drive and buy plenty of models, like the: V8 Vantage Coupe & Roadster, V12 Vantage, DBS Coupe & Volante, DB9 Coupe & Volante, along with the gorgeous four-door Rapide. Pretty soon, AM will also offer the recently launched V8 Vantage S and the Virage models. After opening up this showroom in India, the company has expanded its network to 134 dealers, spread in 42 countries. They've recently opened dealerships in Brazil, Chile, Greece, Czech Republic, Turkey, Croatia and Taiwan. Aston Martin is not the only car manufacturer to launch a dealership in India as a couple of weeks ago Maserati announced its plans on opening up its own showroom in Mumbai later this year. A second Maserati dealership should be up and running in New Delhi at the beginning of next year. By 2015, five more will be opened. Spada Codatronca Monza This track-focused sports car is powered by a heavily modified 7.0-liter V8 engine borrowed from the Chevrolet Corvette, mounted behind the front seats. This power unit has been fitted with two superchargers, increasing the output to 700 hp and a massive peak torque of 700.6 lb.-ft (950 Nm). With a curb weight of only 2,602 pounds (1,180 kg), the Monza is able to sprint to 60 mph in only 3 seconds, before hitting a maximum speed of 208 mph (335 km/h).  Spada Codatronca Monza The Spada Codatronca Monza measures 4,759mm in length, 1,942mm in width and only 1,130mm in height. It rolls on 19-inch rims, and the ones in the back are covered by big 345/35R 19 tires.
