Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 replica based on Pontiac Solstice for sale on eBay Posted: 12 Mar 2009 06:22 PM PDT Ebay has always been a great source for pretty interesting cars. For example, earlier today we had the Mini Cooper S owned by former Playmate Sara Jean Underwood and now here’s another cool find. This Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 replica is based on a 2009 Pontiac Solstice roadster and it has a starting price of $63,244. Under the hood, there’s a 325 hp 4 cylinder engine which takes the face Lambo from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds. That’s pretty fast. I mean, not Lambo fast, but fast. I have to admit, the car looks pretty interesting, but I’d say it wouldn’t make any sense wasting that much money for a fake Lambo. There are tons of other awesome cars you could buy for that money. Ferrari 360 Modena ripped in two in deadly accident Posted: 12 Mar 2009 05:00 PM PDT Early Wednesday, a Ferrari 360 Modena smashed into a light pole and split into half in Newport Beach. My God, just looking at these photos you wonder how the hell do you trash a Ferrari like that? According to recent police reports, the driver of the Ferrari, declared dead at the scene, was Charles Lewis Jr., also known as “Mask”, the co-founder of MMA clothing line TapouT. The other passenger of the car, an unidentified woman, was ejected and is now in pretty bad shape at a local hospital. Apparently, Lewis was racing another guy, Jeffrey David Kirby, in a white 1977 Porsche, when he lost control of the car, jumped the curb and slammed into a light pole. Kirby fled the scene of the accident but was arrested short after and is now being held on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. According to the Newport Police Department, Kirby has a history of driving violation, including a 2002 conviction for DUI. You can watch the KABC video report here. Our thoughts go with Lewis’ family and friends, and this is another reminder that, even if you afford really powerful cars, racing is only meant for the track. Keep it off the streets, because you put your life at risk and, more important, you put other innocent lives at risk. Rest in peace! Land Rover LRX to become reality, with UK Government’s help Posted: 12 Mar 2009 04:00 PM PDT Ok, gimme just a second so I can take a deep breath and chill after I found out this. Land Rover has announced that later this year, they’ll make a final decision whether they’ll start working on an all-new car, based on onw of the most beautiful concepts I’ve ever seen, the Land Rover LRX. However, even though nothing’s certain for the moment, the fact that the UK Government has announced they’ve prepared a grant offer of up to £27 million ($37.5 million) makes us dream about seeing an LRX-based Land Rover in showrooms. The grant offer, which is separate from the Government’s announced automotive support package, will be an important contribution to the £400 million cost of the project. “Both the design and size of the LRX Concept have generated a hugely positive reaction wherever it has been seen and we’ve also gathered fresh insights on what potential owners would look for in a production equivalent. That knowledge is now being applied to the process of refining the vehicle as it heads towards final approval,” said Phil Popham, Managing Director of Land Rover. AutoCar sat with Mr. Popham and found out that the car might go on sale in 2011, badged as a Range Rover and it will probably share a platform with the Land Rover Freelander. They also got a photo of how the production version will probably look like and we can see it’s very similar to the concept, except for the added B and C-pillars, bigger door mirrors and revised door handles and bumpers. Popham also added that the car will only get four-wheel drive and it might be the cleanest Land Rover ever, with under 150 g/km CO2 emissions at launch, number which might get even lower, Land Rover considering a hybrid version too, which might get below 120 g/km CO2 emissions and 60 mpg fuel consumption. All we can say is that, come on Land Rover, make us happy! Video: Jeep gets out of mud, the hard way Posted: 12 Mar 2009 12:30 PM PDT We have no idea how the hell this Jeep got that much deep into mud, but one thing’s for sure, after that ‘rescue mission’ its owner, if it will ever get it fixed, will think twice before trying some hardcore offroad with his car. This video should go into the “Why going into mud is a bad idea” manual. Enjoy! Via Jalopnik Post published on Rpmgo.com Video: Jeep gets out of mud, the hard way Related posts:

UK pricing for the Porsche Panamera Posted: 12 Mar 2009 11:42 AM PDT The Porsche Panamera was officially announced last November and instantly there was a lot of controversy that surrounded the German four-doors coupe. While some loved it, the general opinion is that Porsche kinda screwed this one and the car looks terrible (opinion which we tend to share). However, let’s remember that the Cayenne ain’t exactly the most beautiful SUV around and it was the car that basically marked the rebirth of Porsche. Anyway, today the German car maker announced the Panamera’s pricing in the UK. Available in three versions, Panamera S, 4S and Turbo, the car will be priced starting with £72,266 (around $99,500), £77,269 ($106,500) and £95,298 ($131,000). The rear-wheel drive S and 4S models will be powered by a 400 hp 4.8 liter V8, while the top of the range Panamera Turbo will have four-wheel drive and will be powered by a 500 hp twin-turbocharged 4.8 liter V8. Porsche has also announced that two more powertrains will follow in 2010, a 300 hp entry level V6 and a V6 Hybrid version. The Panamera will come with standard features like full leather interior, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), Bi-Xenon headlights, rear Park Assist, Porsche Communication Management with touchscreen navigation and audio controls, plus a ‘Sport’ button for enthusiasts, which, once pushed, it increases the throttle’s responsiveness and puts the suspension into Sport mode. Porsche will also offer the Panamera with a seven-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) double-clutch transmission which is available as standard for the 4S and Turbo and as an option for £2,289 for the S model. So, considering high performance sedans like the BMW M5 and the Audi RS6 are available at much lower prices, what do you think, is Panamera going to be a failure? Photo Gallery: Porsche Panamera

The crisis hits Playboy too: Sara Jean Underwood’s Mini Coopers S for sale on eBay Posted: 12 Mar 2009 09:56 AM PDT We already know that the Playboy empire is going through some rough times right now and it looks like the same thing happends to former Playmates, because this Mini Cooper S, owned by 2007 Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood was spotted for sale on eBay. The chick is super hot, you have to admit, but will it be enough for her to cash in $35,000 for the car which was also featured in the Playboy magazine and on E!’s “The Girls Next Door” TV show? According to the eBay listing, the car was given to Sara at the 2007 Playmate of the Year Luncheon at the Playboy Mansion in Bevery Hills for becoming Playboy’s 2007 Playmate of the Year and she currently doesn’t need the car anymore, because she plans on moving back to Oregon. Yeah, right! The Cooper S features an automatic transmission, has less than 13,000 miles and is available for test drives in Scappoose, Oregon. Now I know what y’all perverts are thinking, that you’d be willing to go for a test drive with Sara, but unfortunately, the car is all you can get for the moment.
