Anderson Germany 2011 Aston Martin DBS Superior Black Edition Posted: 08 Apr 2011 05:00 AM PDT I've always been a huge fan of the Aston Martin DBS and I've always thought that it couldn't look prettier. Well, I was wrong, as the guys over at Anderson Germany have managed to do the impossible, make the DBS even cooler than it was before. If James Bond was a bad guy, he would probably drive this black beauty. To get this exquisite bad-boy exterior look, Anderson Germany applied a black matte paint job, along with painting the red calipers in red and installing a new set of 21-inch rims, black of course. Inside the cabin, this DBS has been fitted with carbon fiber elements, Alcantara and black leather, along with a red trim and cross stitching on the seats. They've also tweaked the engine a little bit and increased its power. As a reminder, the standard Aston Martin DBS develops 510 hp @ 6,500 rpm from its exquisite hand-built V12 engine, but now it churns out 560 hp, thanks to the new exhaust system. Renault Captur Will Spawn Into A Line Of CUVs Posted: 08 Apr 2011 04:00 AM PDT We've first seen the Renault Captur in March at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show. The concept was well-received and now it seems that the French automaker is working on a line of crossovers that will be based on Nissan platforms and styled after the Captur. As far as the engines are concerned, expect to see from 1.6 to 1.8-liters, along with two versions of Renault's twin-turbo diesel that produce 128 and 158 hp, respectively. Renault promised that it will borrow a lot of design cues from the Captur, including that imposing badge, along with the full-width grille and the curvaceous bodywork. The first models should hit the dealerships sometime in 2014, while the full lineup will be available until 2016. Source: AutoExpress via AutoBlog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Mercedes A-Class Concept – First Photos Posted: 08 Apr 2011 03:00 AM PDT I've always liked the original A-Class, but it was way overpriced. About four years ago, rumors surfaced the Internet saying that the German automaker was seriously considering eliminating the A-Class from its lineup. Since then, things have changed dramatically and in these pictures we can see the concept that previews the forthcoming generation of the A-Class (M270). I have to say that the concept looks awesome, but I'm afraid that the production-ready version will be significantly different from this one. The only things that I don't like about the concept are those very slim door mirrors and the humongous badge on the grille, other than that, it's great. Looking at it from the side, it reminds me of the sleek CLS, which is definitely a good thing, at least in my humble opinion. This concept features both turbocharging and direct-injection. Under the hood it packs a BlueEFFICIENCY 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that delivers 210 hp, mated to a dual-clutch gearbox. The Mercedes A-Class Concept will make its public appearance at the upcoming New York Auto Show, as well as the Shanghai Motor Show. More information should be available pretty soon so stay tuned. Production-ready BMW M5, Heading To The Frankfurt Motor Show Posted: 08 Apr 2011 02:00 AM PDT Despite the fact that the concept version of the BMW M5 hasn't been unveiled officially, information about the production model has surfaced the Internet this week, from which we've learned that we will see the car in all its "M" glory at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Until then, we'll have to settle with the concept, which should make an appearance later on this month in Shanghai at the local motor show. Tire smoking action with Toyota FT-86 II in Gran Turismo 5 Posted: 08 Apr 2011 01:46 AM PDT
Until then, we can enjoy driving it and smoking its tires on the virtual tracks of Gran Turismo 5. Enjoy this lovely video: Click here to view the embedded video. Via Topspeed. Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Achievement Unlocked – Selling One Million Priuses In The U.S. Posted: 08 Apr 2011 01:30 AM PDT Despite the fact that recent reports say that in California (at least) Toyota is running out of Priuses, the Japanese automaker has reached an important milestone – selling one million units of this eco-friendly model in the United States. Back in mid-2008, the automaker said it had sold one million Priuses around the world, which was a pretty big deal. To achieve this performance, Toyota needed about five years. Since the introduction of the second generation which occurred in 2003, sales went sky high and they needed only two more years to sell another million cars. As of October last year, the automaker has sold more than three million hybrids, which is pretty darn impressive if you ask me. Source: Toyota via Autoblog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Toyota And Microsoft Join Forces For Developing Next Generation Telematics Posted: 08 Apr 2011 01:00 AM PDT The Japanese automaker Toyota has revealed this week that it has teamed up with Microsoft for developing the next generation of telecommunication and information technology for cars. By using the Windows Azure platform, Toyota and Microsoft will develop a range of systems that we will most likely see as soon as 2012. However, the ultimate objective of this partnership is to create a cloud platform from which Toyota buyers can use telematics services around the world. For reaching this ambitious goal, the companies are going to invest about $12 million in the joint venture. Source: Toyota via Autoblog | Photo: nextcars.net Post published on Rpmgo.com |
European-spec Ford Focus Econetic Can Do 67 Mpg Posted: 07 Apr 2011 03:00 PM PDT I guess that by now there are a lot of pretty upset U.S. citizens because they will not have the possibility to order this Ford Focus Econetic, a car designed entirely for maximum efficiency. The Blue Oval says that this model can to up to 80 mpg on the European testing cycle, which translates to about 67 mpg in the United States. The car is powered by a 1.6-liter Duratorq diesel engine that develops 103 hp. Nothing special so far, but add to this the start/stop system, smart regenerative charging, an "Eco" mode and an updated final drive ratio, and you get a whopping 12 mpg more in comparison to the standard US-spec 1.6-liter diesel model. In addition, the car sports a couple of aerodynamic enhancements, like the active grille shutters on the front fascia, along with specially-designed low-drag wheel covers. The Focus Econetic will make its first public appearance at the Amsterdam Motor Show next week and it will hit the dealerships in early 2012. This Econetic version is going to be available for both 4- and 5-door body styles. Source: Ford via Autoblog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
BMW Is Working On a Clever 8-Speed Transmission Posted: 07 Apr 2011 02:30 PM PDT How clever? Well, it will be able to adapt its shifting pattern and power delivery in order to suit road conditions. How is it going to do that you ask? By using a lot of nerdy stuff, like GPS mapping, a wireless data connection, the car's DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), along with front and rear-mounted cameras and radar sensors. While some will say that it is great, others will disapprove as it takes the fun out of driving. I for one will always prefer a manual gearbox, but if I had to get an automatic one, this would probably be it. Source: BMW via Autoblog Post published on Rpmgo.com |
Can’t Afford A Mercedes? Get A SsangYong Chairman H, Or Not… Posted: 07 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT Lately we've been hearing a lot from the Korean manufacturer SsangYong. Back in February they've revealed the quite nice SUT1 pickup truck and last month we've learned that Mahindra & Mahindra bought the company and is now running the show. Just a few days ago they've unveiled a pretty interesting concept, the KEV2. The car will hit the dealerships this May, but there isn't any information about the price tag. However, taking into consideration that there was no design team involved for creating the car, it should be pretty cheap as they've spent less money developing it. PS: I smell a lawsuit coming… Source: SsangYong via WCF Post published on Rpmgo.com |
