Supercar horror: Ferrari 458 Italia models after crash tests Posted: 09 Oct 2009 06:39 AM PDT The Ferrari 458 Italia is the newest model from the Italian supercar maker which will replace the extremely popular F430 and take performance and style to a whole new level for the people who are rich enough to own one. But before the launch of the car, which happened at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Italian company put it through its paces, which included besides endurance testing, a lot of crash tests, in order to ensure that the passengers will escape with the least amount of injuries. The result of these tests? Images, took by the guys from WreckedExotics, that will make plenty of Ferrari fans shed a tear. Multiple Italias lay under wrap after being subjected to some serious punishment. Some of them were involved in front and rear collisions while some of them got into side crashes. Ferrari unveils special one of a kind 599 GTB Fiorano China edition Posted: 09 Oct 2009 06:18 AM PDT Seeing as how China is quickly becoming one of the largest auto markets in the world, Ferrari was quick to take advantage of this and has launched a special run of about a dozen models of the 599 GTB Fiorano edition. Called China Limited Edition, the special version have also received a one of a kind model, customized by famous Chinese artist Lu Hao, set to be auctioned on November 3 at a special Gala Auction Event which will take place in Beijing First of all, the China Limited Edition consists of specially-targeted 599 GTB Fiorano models, which have been finished in a two-tone Rosso Fuoco pain, with a silver roof and sport Chinese characters on places like the starter button or the tachometer. Lu Hao abandoned the fiery red paint job in favor of one inspired by the design of the famous Ge Kiln porcelain from China’s Song Dynasty. A cracked pattern was used, which will replicate cracks on various levels so that the whole car would look like a broken porcelain vase of some sorts. While Marco Mattiacci, the CEO of Ferrari Asia Pacific declares that the model is an artistic masterpiece, this is some art he can keep, give me a fiery red Ferrari any day instead of this broken porcelain one. Convertible Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger to arrive at SEMA thanks to Drop Top Customs Posted: 09 Oct 2009 06:05 AM PDT Convertibles are really something else, as the feeling of the wind through your hair and feeling the speed of your car can be quite addictive for some. That is why for owners of the new Chevrolet Camaro or the Dodge Challenger, the team at Drop Top Customs can make the roof go away, replacing with a cloth top. Albeit a bit pricey, which we will cover in a second, the fact that GM only plans to unveil a convertible Camaro at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012 and Dodge has absolutely no plans for a convertible Challenger, this offer from Drop Top Customs, which will have its own stand at the end of the month at the SEMA convention, is quite attractive. The owner of Drop Top Customs, Jeff Morgan, revealed that the convertible package for the Camaro will start from $18,000, which don’t include the car which you must already own, which starts from $22,680 for the LS V6 version and tops at $33,745 for the 2SS V8 model. Prices for the Dodge Challenger weren’t revealed just yet. Source: DropTopCustoms Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

AVUS Performance launches the Audi TT RS “Ur Quattro”: 450 HP and 472 lb-ft (639 Nm) Posted: 09 Oct 2009 05:48 AM PDT The new Audi TT RS coupe is definitely a fast model, but thanks to the efforts of German tuning house AVUS Performance, it has truly reached a formidable level, offering a huge amount of power from its small 2.5-liter five-cylinder supercharged engine: 450 HP and 472 lb-ft (639 Nm) of torque. In order to reach this new power threshold, the team added a modified turbo, a new, reprogrammed ECU and a new exhaust system. All of the tweaks mean that the new Audi TT RS Ur Quattro will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds, and will keep on going way past its normal limit of 280 km/h until 312 km/h (194 mph). These engine modifications weren’t priced sadly. In order to handle all of the extra speed and to go over corners more tightly, a set of adjustable coil-over suspension springs were fitted, which cost about €1,299. On the outside, AVUS added a matte black vinyl wrap, which costs €1,999, and a set of 20-inch glossy black rims, wrapped in Hankook S1 Evo tires, which coupled with the discount the company is offering for rims and tires of 25%, will set you back “just” €6,400. Other accessories, like Recaro sports seats can also be added if your wallet allows it. Source: CarScoop Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
