Mercedes-Benz allows you to pay your monthly lease through an iPhone app

Mercedes-Benz allows you to pay your monthly lease through an iPhone app

You can’t doubt the fact that Apple’s iPhone, in all of its iterations up until now, has been a very popular device. A large factor in this degree of popularity is the App store, which allows anyone with an iPhone or an iPod Touch to navigate and download all sorts of small applications for the mobile devices.

Seeing how popular these small apps have become, Mercedes-Benz Financial has just revealed the fact that it has launched its own application in the App store. This new release will allow you to pay your monthly lease for your MB car or contact dealerships around you in case you don’t own a Mercedes.

Marketed as the “coolest way to pay,” the new system does have a catch, as you must first register at the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services website, where you will be able to download the app and pair your account with it, in order for the transactions to be safely made.

Either way, this is definite an interesting marketing endeavor for Mercesdes-Benz, hopefully it will extend to other countries, not just in the US, in the near future.

Toyota FT-86 Concept gets virtual track debut in Gran Turismo 5

Posted: 07 Oct 2009 05:55 AM PDT

It seems that showcasing your cars on the track these days is so last year, as many car makers have opted to let two of the best looking racing games, Forza Motorsport 3 and Gran Turismo 5 to do that job for them.

The latest company to use the game developers is Toyota, which has just presented a video of its newly-announced FT-86 Concept made with Gran Turismo 5, the PlayStation 3 racing simulator currently being developed by Polyphony Digital and set to appear in March in Japan.

Although we would have liked to see a real care on the track, this is definitely coming close, especially as it features in the end the iconic Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. Enjoy the video and count down the days until both the game and the car get released.

VF Engineering reveals video of its supercharged 550 HP Audi R8

Posted: 07 Oct 2009 05:39 AM PDT

If there’s one component every tuner has grown to love, its the super/turbocharger. It can easily increase the performance figures of an engine by simply blowing more air into it. The team at VF Engineering specializes in just these types of components and have just revealed a new video of a supercharger on an Audi R8.

In all fairness, they also had a reprogrammed ECU, but the supercharger does almost all the work, pushing the stock 4.2-liter engine from 420 to a massive 550 HP. Enjoy the video below and marvel at the awesome sound of that supercharged engine. I wonder what they could do with the new 5.2-liter V10 one.
