Only from the Arabs: matte gold Audi R8 Posted: 22 Sep 2009 01:37 AM PDT Say you’re a rich Arab oil tycoon and you’ve just bought an Audi R8 in order to drive around the city. But here’s a shocker: there are plenty of Audi R8 cars out there. What are you going to do? Well it seems that one smart guy decided to give its car a rather unique finish. Instead of opting for already classic cheesy options like gold or matte black, he decided to mess around and give his new Audi R8 a matte gold finish. Yeah, these pics of this rather unusual model have been taken around a big commercial center in the United Arab Emirates. While to me it may look like a sacrilege to the R8, perhaps some might even find this unique finish rather attractive. Hopefully though, this trend won’t become popular among other Arabs with plenty of money to spend. What do you think? Don’t be afraid to leave us a comment below. Ferrari F60 Formula 1 car built entirely out of Puma clothes Posted: 22 Sep 2009 01:23 AM PDT Yup, you read right, in a new attempt to show to the world that it is the only sport apparel company to have a contract with Ferrari, Puma has decided to take a more unorthodox route, instead of, say, putting your logo on the Formula 1 car. The sports company tasked the employees of one of its stores to build a replica of the F60 racing car by using only what they could find on exhibit in the store. The result? An F1 track car built out of shirts, slippers, backpacks and anything in between. Enjoy this video showcasing how the entire build process went down. Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Drive the Audi e-Tron right at home from your PlayStation 3 console Posted: 22 Sep 2009 01:16 AM PDT As you know from our extensive coverage of the Frankfurt Motor Show, one of the biggest announcements was Audi’s e-Tron electric concept car. It really looks amazing, and with the technology it boasts, will certainly feel that way too, in the future when it will be launched. But for those of you who are itching to take it out even for a small drive, well Audi has some good news for you, as it revealed, through the voice of Kai Mensing, who is responsible for online marketing in video games and virtual worlds at the German car maker, that it will be playable in a new game, exclusively for the PlayStation Home online social network, available on the PlayStation 3 console. For those of you not really into games, PlayStation Home is a virtual environment where PS3 users get together and do various fun things. It supports dedicated spaces, and already has quite a lot of them. The new Audi space, which will be launched this December, will have a special game entitled Vertical Run, where players will drive the new e-Tron and attempt to collect electrical energy in order to make it to the end of the race but also try to drive as carefully as possible.
Overall, as an avid gamer, I applaud Audi’s new strategy and, considering the completely free nature of PlayStation Home, this new space will certainly appeal to many fans of racing games. See you in December in the Audi space. Read More: “Drive the Audi e-Tron right at home from your PlayStation 3 console” Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Lorinser reveals new styling package for the Mercedes-Benz GLK Posted: 22 Sep 2009 01:01 AM PDT German tuning house Lorinser has quite a lot of experience in the tuning scene, specializing in models from its own country. But it seems that it isn’t content with just cars, as it has recently revealed its Collection division, which will offer specially-branded objects, ranging from shirts to mugs and anything in between. In order to highlight this expansion and the one into the custom paintwork segment, the tuning company decided to reveal a special version of the Mercedes-Benz GLK 280 V6 model, the latest city SUV from the German company. Painted in “fiery opal”, the new GLK can brag only about its new bodykit, as in terms of performance upgrades, nothing has been changed. The new bodykit will consist of brand new front and rear bumpers, slightly larger fog lamps and more aggressive side sills. The quad stainless steel exhaust ends the car in a sportier tone, completed with the new 22-inch Lorinser RS 9 alloy-wheels, finished in matte black and wrapped in Yokohama tires. Look forward to the new fiery opal paint tone to appear in future merchandise from the German tuning house soon enough. Ferrari California gets tuned by Hamann Posted: 22 Sep 2009 12:30 AM PDT The new Ferrari California is a very attractive car, combining some sleek design lines with high end performance, trademark of the Italian automaker. But what the Italians can do, the Germans can improve, at least in this car’s case, as Hamann Motorsport decided to tinker with the California and see just what it can come up with. The result is a new tuning offer from Hamann which will reprogram the ECU of the California, thus offering a 20% improvement of the stock 4.3-liter V8 engine, which will now output 552 HP. Besides this mechanical modification, the German tuner will also outfit the car with 21-inch alloy wheels, connected to new progressive suspension springs which lower by more than one inch the new Ferrari. Of course the aerodynamics and the exterior look couldn’t have been forgotten, as Hamann outfitted a new front spoiler consisting of two pieces, which has an integrated side molding made of carbon fiber. New custom side vents, side skirts and a new rear wing have also been added, in order to complete the bodykit, which can be delivered to the client in either fiberglass or carbon fiber, depending on the preferences. While it may not seem that much of a modification as opposed to the standard model, if you want to really make your new Ferrari California stand out from the pack, you might want to visit Hamann Motorsport.
