Auto Unleashed |
Posted: 08 Mar 2009 03:27 PM PDT We’re baaack! Missed us? As you’ve probably noticed, Auto Unleashed was down for the last month. What happened was that on February 6, the domain name has been hijacked from our registrar and it’s a real pain in the ass getting it back. So, while we’ve waited and hoped to quickly get the domain name back, it seems it will be much harded than we anticipated and it might take months before we’ll see the domain back in our hands. But we didn’t want to hold things down, so we’ve decided to move all the content here, on rpmgo.com (pretty lovely name, huh?). We’re really sorry about all this, but it wasn’t our fault and we didn’t see this coming at all. So, from now, stay tuned to rpmgo to get all the fresh news about the car world. The Rpmgo Team Note: If you’ve received this via your email or RSS subscription it’s ok, you don’t have to subscribe again.

Tens of 2010 Chevrolet Camaros waiting to hit the streets Posted: 08 Mar 2009 03:26 PM PDT Though GM announced some time ago that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro production will start on March 16, here are some photos taken by Camaro5 forums user Elvisuperman, at the GM plant in Oshawa, Ontario and we can see probably around 200 beauties waiting to hit the streets. “In the lot at the Oshawa plant on the South-West corner of Wentworth and Stevenson there are rows upon rows of new CAMAROS with stickers in the windows!” Now, from where I see it, there are two probable scenarios. The first one is that the Camaro production started as originally scheduled, on February 16, but I can’t figure out a reason why GM would hide that. On the other hand, these could be cars prepared for the press or for different events, where GM will definitely promote the Camaro. Check out more photos of the Camaros lot after the jump. Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire 260 Megapixel Gigapan photo Posted: 08 Mar 2009 03:26 PM PDT The Geneva Motor Show marked the debut of the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire, a special edition of the Veyron, celebration 100 years of Bugatti. There were no changes made to the mechanical part, the engine still delivers 1001 hp, all Bugatti did was take some parts from the Veyron Grand Sport convertible, like the LED lights, add new aluminum air inlets, chrome mirrors and unique mirrors and paint the car in a fabulous two-tone matte/gloss blue finish. However, this post isn’t meant to present the car, but to show you what the guys from Image Engineers did at the Swiss show. Using a Gigapan, they took this 260 Megapixel photo of the Bleu Centenaire, so you can admire every little detail of the car. Don’t know what a Gigapan is? We’re not going into details (because we don’t know very much), but the point is that the Gigapan is a robotic device, similar to the one used by the Mars Rover program, that is capable of producing very high resolution images from many small images. Clickthrough and see the image after the jump. Source: Image Engineers (Via Jalopnik) Post published on Rpmgo.com Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire 260 Megapixel Gigapan photo Related posts:

Arnold Schwarzenegger visits Audi at the Geneva Motor Show Posted: 08 Mar 2009 03:25 PM PDT During the press days at the Geneva Motor Show, the Audi booth had a very interesting and unexpected visitor, California’s governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The politician/former actor was shown around the Audi stand by Rupert Stadler, Audi AG’s Chairman, Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi board member in charge of Marketing and Sales and German actor Ralf Moeller. Like worldcarfans mentions, this visit may look like an “innocent little walkabout”, but it could really turn out to be much more important than that. That is because Audi has some very ambitious plans of becoming the world’s largest premium carmaker (position currently held by BMW), and to that, they would definitely need to sell well to the US market. And Arnie, being the governor of one of the most developed US states (if California were a country, it would have the world’s 6th largest economy) is really important to the German carmaker’s plans.
